Chelsea v Hull City: Leaders to get back on track without conceding

Published:

Following their first defeat of the season, coming unstuck in Newcastle, Jose Mourinho will be keen for his Chelsea side to get back on the horse with their advantage at the top of the Premier League now down to three points.

Having fielded a reasonably strong side in the Champions League in midweek, in a game that was effectively a dead rubber for the Blues, some may fancy Hull to give a perhaps tiring Chelsea line-up a bit of a game.

But at 1/6 for the win, Ladbrokes sees no danger of the league leaders slipping up when the Tigers visit, with the draw available at 6/1 or another shock loss for Chelsea at 16/1.

With no value in the straight win, Ladbrokes News’ Ben Stones picks out three other bets more worthy of getting involved with.

Chelsea to win to nil @ 8/13

The Stamford Bridge outfit have kept five clean sheets in their seven Premier League matches on their own patch this season, winning all of them.

By contrast, Steve Bruce’s men have drawn a blank in three of their last four away games, and look to be struggling for firepower in front of goal.

While the price on the straight Chelsea win might be beyond some people, this is the way to go for those fancying the hosts.

Didier Drogba to score and Chelsea to win @ 17/20

‘The Drog’ will have happy memories of taking on Hull during his previous spell with Chelsea, bagging three goals in two games against the Yorkshire club.

And with goals in the Blues’ last two matches, he is certainly a man in form.

Throw in the Diego Costa played a full 90 minutes against Sporting in midweek, and the Ivorian could be given plenty of chances to get the hosts on their way to victory.

Scorecast: Drogba/2-0 @ 14/1

So with a Chelsea win to nil, with Didier Drogba getting on the scoresheet already tipped up, we feel it would be a bit silly to not have a crack at the scorecast.

The last two meetings between these sides have ended 2-0 to the Londoners, and with Mourinho’s men winning by this scoreline three times already this season, we are taking a chance on them making it four against the toothless Hull City attack.
