Everton head 3 suggested clubs for new West Brom sub Berahino

| 15.12.2014

Saido Berahino may have had to be content with substitute appearances for West Brom in the last two rounds of Premier League fixtures, but it remains clear that he is a pivotal cog in their quest to avoid relegation this season.

He is one of only six strikers in the Premier League this season to have played at least a minute in all of their team’s games. The others are Leonardo Ulloa, Graziano Pelle, Wilfried Bony, Connor Wickham and Romelu Lukaku.

Berahino was on the pitch just two minutes before his cross ultimately led to the only goal in the Baggies winning their derby with Aston Villa, while he remains responsible for seven of their 15 goals.

The England under-21 striker has an identical shot-to-goal conversion rate to Sergio Aguero this season, but with his starts dwindling for now and talk of a new contract going quiet, there have been suggestions outside of West Brom that he could leave.

Inter Milan have been one club linked, but here are three Premier League clubs that could profit from the talents of the 21-year-old.

All of Berahino’s goals so far have come from inside opposing penalty boxes and this type of poacher would be an asset for Gus Poyet, as only Burnley have scored fewer penalty-box goals this season than Sunderland.

Sunderland have historically spent double-figure sums on strikers too (Darren Bent, Steven Fletcher, Wickham) and it would probably take a similar amount to come close to signing Berahino.

When looking for teams that appreciate young English talent, few are doing better at present than Everton, with Ross Barkley and John Stones already in the first-team and Luke Garbutt on the fringes.

The Toffees aren’t blessed with a host of strikers either, suggesting that Berahino will get opportunities at Goodison Park.

Crystal Palace

Goals from strikers are not coming especially regularly for Crystal Palace and manager Neil Warnock has previously indicated that he may be on the lookout for another forward in January.

The only real issue is that Berahino is not too dissimilar in style to Dwight Gayle, who has the equal best shot-per goal record this season with Diego Costa.

Berahino’s all-round game is slightly superior though if Warnock decides that he needs another player of this ilk.
