Liverpool v Swansea: Back a narrow win for the Reds

Published:

Both Liverpool and Swansea have enjoyed their Christmases so far, with the Reds following up a last-gasp equaliser against Arsenal with victory at Burnley and Swansea notching two 1-0 wins in their last two.

As fatigue sets in due to the hectic fixture list, results become harder to call, but we’re backing a home win as the first of our best bets for this Premier League clash.

Liverpool to win @ 8/11

When you’re in an iffy run of form of home, as Liverpool most decidedly are having won just three of their nine league games at Anfield this term, it’s a real bonus to come up against a travel-sick side like Swansea.

The Swans’ 1-0 victory away at Hull in their last road game broke a run of seven winless away matches, a dismal streak that included five losses.

Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Swansea in the Capital One Cup was part of that streak, and was also their third win over the Swans in a row at Anfield.

Liverpool to score first @ 8/15

The Reds have not always excelled in front of their own fans in the Premier League this season, but they have been reliable in beating their opponents onto the scoresheet.

Liverpool have bagged the opener in five of their past seven league games at Anfield, with the other two matches both ending goalless.

Back under 2.5 goals @ 1/1

No ground in the Premier League has witnessed fewer goals than Anfield this season, with just 17 goals in total coming at Liverpool’s basecamp.

The Reds have only bagged nine in nine home matches, with Aston Villa, Hull and Burnley the only sides to have scored fewer in front of their own fans.

Meanwhile, Swansea are unlikely to bring the goals, as they’ve notched a mere eight times on their travels this term.
