Meet the Newcastle youngster perfectly primed for a Rangers loan move

Recalled from Vale Park last month amid concerns over Newcastle United’s ever-increasing injury problems, Remie Streete would undoubtedly benefit from his next loan move being to Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers.
Having conceded 13 goals in 15 games so far in the Scottish Championship, Rangers may have the second best defence in the second tier but with Hearts shipping just eight there is certainly room for improvement.
And while the league may not be the best showcase of their need to improve things at the back their recent 3-2 defeat to Alloa in the Challenge Cup – a game in which the lowly Championship side rallied late to score three times in the final 19 minutes – demonstrated a certain defensive frailty.
With a Scottish League Cup meeting with Celtic just around the corner the need for an improvement is pretty urgent and with little money left in the club coffers options are limited at best.
Yet with Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley buying a 10 per cent stake in the club, it could be high time for Gers boss Ally McCoist to make the most of this budding partnership.
The Rangers boss has already outlined plans to do just that too in a recent interview with the Daily Record where he outlined the fact that discussions have already been held with Derek Llambias the new chief executive at Ibrox and a man who worked under Ashley at St James’ Park.
“I’ve spoken to Derek a few times and he’s positive and keen to help,” McCoist said.
“I’ve been for a look at some of Newcastle’s young players already.
“I cover as many games as I can. We’re looking all over the place.”
Streete would represent the ideal defensive addition and at 21 the tough-tackling stopper would undoubtedly benefit from playing in the intensified atmosphere at Rangers, which is a far cry from the tame surrounds of Port Vale.
A move to Scotland did wonders for Paul Dummett back in the early years of his career at the club with the Magpies man gaining valuable first team experience during a short stay at St Mirren.
And with Ashley owning a stake in both sides it could prove to be a shrewd bit of business for all concerned while also helping Newcastle nurture a young talent who may yet have a future at St James Park.
