Pochettino eyes up another Argentine to boost Spurs defence

Although a couple of good results against Swansea and Newcastle will send Tottenham Hotspur into the Christmas fixture rush in fine spirits, much is still unknown about this Spurs side.
The Lilywhites have come within inches of clicking into gear several times this season, only to suffer a couple of hefty set backs, and this latest improvement could end in exactly the same way.
Spurs’ next two games are against Burnley and Leicester, a brace of matches where only six points will do.

However, the latest rumours fresh from the mill suggest Spurs’ manager is also keen to add another defender to his ranks, with Palermo’s Ezequiel Munoz one possible option.
Munoz has enjoyed an impressive recent run in the Serie A side’s first team, whose upturn in form has coincided with his introduction into the back four.
The 24-year-old played just one of Palermo’s first six games, where they failed to win a single match, but has started each of the past nine where they have won five and lost just once.
The newly-promoted side’s fine run of form has seen several of their players linked with bigger clubs, and Munoz’s contract situation makes him an especially appealing target.
The defender’s contract runs out at the end of the season, meaning a free transfer next summer, or a cut-price deal in January, could be in the offing.
Spurs have a surfeit of centre-backs on their books already, but with Younes Kaboul looking past it, Vlad Chiriches too risky to play in the middle of defence and Jan Vertonghen likely to move on in the summer, Munoz could be a well-judged squad addition.
