Price Boost: Chelsea striker big value to net first at Derby

With goals scored in three different League Cup finals, this is a competition that Didier Drogba has somewhat of a likeness for.

His record in the current campaign isn’t particularly bad either, as he bagged the opener when starting Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over League Two Shrewsbury in round four.

And Ladbrokes are boosting the price that Drogba repeats the feat in Chelsea’s fifth-round trip to Derby. The Ivorian striker was initially priced up at 4/1 in the first goalscorer market, but this has since been enhanced to 5/1.

This offer only exists from 8am on matchday and is for the first goal in the 90 minutes only.

Much could hinge on whether he starts this one for Jose Mourinho and based on his recent form, Drogba deserves to line-up for the pre-game handshake.

In his last four starts for the Blues, the 36-year-old has been on target in three of them, with two being the opening goals.

Meanwhile, Drogba’s last five Chelsea appearances have brought about 140 minutes of on-pitch action and he has scored three times in this stretch.

So far this season, Drogba has been positioned ahead of Loic Remy as the second in command to Diego Costa in the Chelsea striker ranks and with the Spaniard known for his weak hamstrings, this looks a logical game to give him the night off.

Derby’s defence has hardly been watertight lately either, with five goals conceded across their last three matches.
