Spurs to get PSG-style makeover if Qatar government take over

The worldwide web is awash with reports that Tottenham could be the Premier League club of choice for the Qatari government who are looking to launch a mammoth £1bn takeover bid.
While this is still speculation at present, the Paris St-Germain blueprint will no doubt have some Spurs fans eager to see the investment become reality.
Following more than a decade in relative obscurity, PSG have gone onto win successive French titles and have established themselves back among the elite clubs in Europe.
The Arab nation’s sports minister Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali has been very open about Qatar’s desires to initiate a similar project to the PSG model in England.
He is quoted saying: “Of course Qatar wants to own a Premier League club. “Here in Qatar we are very, very good in taking something and really transforming it into something very, very good.
“Even if it’s good, we take it to another step.”
Naturally there will be some Spurs fans who are opposed to the idea on ethical grounds, but there is no hiding money of this kind is the gateway to success in the modern game.
The 7/1 shots for the top four during Mauricio’s Pochettino’s early tenure already have a 55,000 seater stadium development in the pipeline, but with these sorts of figures, the possible investment in players would be vast.
After a Qatari consortium close to their own royal family brought the Parisian outfit in 2011, marquee signings began arriving in clusters, helping to elevate PSG to Champions League contenders.
Spurs haven’t tasted top European football since Harry Redknapp departed and looking at other examples of Arab investment such as Manchester City, the London club’s owners and chairman Daniel Levy may be unable to refuse.
Tottenham entertain Newcastle next in their Capital One Cup quarter-final clash and the Londoners are the 5/6 favourites to win the tie.
