Swansea v QPR: Rangers’ ragged road record to tell

Published:

Queens Park Rangers’ come-from-behind win against Leicester at the weekend may well have instilled some belief into Harry Redknapp’s side, but they are still well and truly in a relegation dogfight.

They remain in the bottom three on goal difference, but have looks far from a team condemned to relegation in the past few weeks.

But whether they can keep that up remains to be seen as they make a trip the distance of the M4 to Swansea where they are priced up at 19/5 for back-to-back wins.

However, despite their mini revival, there are three other bets that present far better value.

Swansea to win and both teams to score @ 13/5

While QPR’s performances of late have sparked encouragement, most of the better times have been in front of their own fans.

They may have scored 10 goals in their last six games, but the fact that they have picked up precisely zero points on the road sets alarm bells ringing.

And with Swansea unbeaten in five at the Liberty Stadium, including victories against Arsenal and Everton, a home win with both sides finding the net looks the way to go.

Charlie Austin to score anytime @ 11/5

Now if anyone is to get on the scoresheet for the Rs, it is this man.

A well taken poacher’s finish against Leicester meant that the former Swindon man has now scored in four of his last six Premier League games, and is clearly the main man up top for the west London side.

Keep that sort of form up, and a call-up to the England set up is surely only a matter of time.

Half-time correct score – 1-0 @ 11/4

Full-back Neil Taylor has been bemoaning his side’s lack of concentration in the latter stages of games, but the same cannot be said for the opening 45 minutes of Swansea’s home ties.

Just Papiss Cisse and a Mile Jedinak penalty have breached the Swans back-line in the first half of their games in Glamorgan.

With QPR not scoring in the first period of any of their road-trips a clean sheet looks assured at the break.

And with Garry Monk’s side finding the net early in five of their seven matches in front of their own fans, this looks a solid bet.
