Newcastle hotshot a sensible way for Swansea to splash cash

There will be no end of advice available to Swansea manager Garry Monk about how he should spend the wedge of cash that is coming his way from the sale of star striker Wilfried Bony to Manchester City.
Some of the suggestions should be written off as nothing more than fantasy, but the latest name linked with a switch to the Liberty Stadium would actually be a decent acquisition for the 1/2 top-half hopefuls.
Papiss Cisse is the man the Swans supposedly have their transfer crosshairs trained on, with the Senegalese striker reportedly up for sale at Newcastle following the departure of Alan Pardew from the dugout.
Cisse became a bit-part player under the now Crystal Palace boss last season, starting just 15 league games in the campaign and scoring a measly two goals in that time.
This season has been more of a return to form for the former Freiburg frontman though, scoring nine times in 13 top-flight appearances to position himself as the Magpies’ top scorer in the competition.
Despite his renaissance, which harks back to his opening gambit with the club when he scored 13 in as many games as a January signing in 2012, Newcastle are willing to sell Cisse for as little as £7m, a fee that would allow Monk to bring in a proven Premier League goal getter while sparing plenty of dough to strengthen elsewhere.
Newcastle’s decision to sell, while they still search for a replacement manager, is a curious one, especially to a top-flight rival and with another key cog, Moussa Sissoko, tipped to leave this month too.
Their strange choice shouldn’t deter Swansea though, who will have a tough task replacing Bony’s goals, but can go some way to solving the issue at a bargain-basement price with Cisse.
