Cuthbertson could light up Leeds Rhinos’ season, says captain

Published:

New Leeds signing Adam Cuthbertson could play a huge part in the Rhinos’ quest for glory this season, according to captain Kevin Sinfield.

Hugely impressed with the Australian’s efforts in his fledgling Rhinos career thus far, Sinfield singled the 29-year-old out for praise for his pre-season efforts.

In an interview with Ladbrokes News, the captain reveals his aspirations for the year ahead and also highlights some of the younger Rhinos that could have an impact in Super League XX.

What would be a successful season for Leeds in Super League XX?

I think we’re in with a good shot. The competition has obviously changed and we’ll see how that pans out. But we’ve got a decent squad with a lot of competition for places so I expect us to be there or thereabouts so we’ll see how it goes.

If you could pick any other Super League player to sign for Leeds this year who would you pick and why?

I honestly don’t know.

Who will be the next big thing at Leeds?

We got a new Australian lad Adam Cuthbertson and he’s been fantastic in pre-season and great in the warm-up games. Young lads-wise I expect to see big years from Stevie Ward, Brad Singleton and Liam Sutcliffe and another young lad who could impress is Ashton Golding.

If Ladbrokes gave you a free £100 bet (other than Leeds) to win the Super League who would pick and why?

It would depend on the odds but an outside bet would be Salford and as for favourites it’d be Wigan or Saints as over the last 10 years they’ve been there or thereabouts come play-off time and Grand Finals time.

Ladbrokes are the proud new sponsors of the Challenge Cup, what is your favourite memory of the competition?

Winning it last year for sure. Nothing tops that memory.
