Who Killed Lucy Beale?: 5 of the best value bets

Published:

As the nation waits with baited breath to find out who killed Lucy Beale five people with close ties lead the betting.

Brother Bobby leads the way at 10/3, while Billy Mitchell is next at 6/1. Dad Ian is still in the frame at 6/1, while step-mum Jane and sister Cindy can be backed at 7/1 respectively.

However, nothing is ever straightforward in soapland and with that in mind we cast our eyes over some of the better-value suspects.

Ben Mitchell @ 5/1

The son of Phil Mitchell was always going to be a ‘wrong’un’ and so it has proved thus far. Fathering a child with his third cousin, a stint in juvy for “slappin dahn” a bully and a spell in proper jail for the murder of Heather Trott are all on his rapsheet.

Plus there’s the small fact he ordered Jay to bury Lucy’s belonging in the immediate aftermath of the murder!

Denise Fox @ 8/1

Given that we now know that Lucy was killed at home it’s surprising that Ian’s ex is so far back in the betting.

Lucy knew about Denise’s affair with Fatboy and at the time it would have been more than happy to see the back of her.

And the subsequent beating of defenceless Patrick hints at a dark side to Denise that hasn’t been aired before.

Abi Branning @ 20/1

Max was convinced of his daughter’s guilt and while she claimed that despite wanting to see Lucy dead she didn’t kill her, this could easily be a red herring planted deliberately by the Eastenders writing crew.

Max Branning @ 33/1

When there’s controversy on the Square Max is never far behind and his accusing of Abi could be an elaborate ploy to deflect attention from himself.

This is a man who had an affair with his own son’s wife after all. And he certainly was keen to keep tabs on the investigation – starting an affair with DC Emma Summerhayes- and shredded the evidence she left behind!

Dean Wicks @ 50/1

He may seem far removed from the story line but Deano is a nasty piece of work and was seen skulking around the Square with his hood up looking sinister earlier this week.

He may have gotten away with raping his auntie/sister-in-law ( this is Eastenders remember), but this wasn’t his first brush with the law, having spiked Stacey’s drink, framing Sean Slater and serving six months for perverting the cause of justice!

Basically, the boy’s got a screw loose and nothing is beyond him so it’s got to worth a little punt at such big odds.
