Why the ‘New Aguero’ looks on course for the Premier League

In-demand Palermo striker Paulo Dybala could be heading to the Premier League this summer, having been linked with both Manchester City and Arsenal, if fresh reports are to be believed.
The 21-year-old striker, who has drawn comparisons with fellow Argentine Sergio Aguero, has scored 11 goals in 22 Serie A outings for the Rosonero so far this season and has already attracted interest from across the continent this term.
Valued at around €40m by Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini, the Cordoba-born striker may have already been priced out of a move to another Serie A club with a Premier League switch now the most likely option.
Speaking to Goal.com, Zamparini hinted at a move to the English top-flight.
“Paulo Dybala, although very young is one of the best strikers in the world,” he explained. “… I’ve been to London and I have received calls from all over Europe.”
“I would be happy [if] Napoli bought him, but I don’t think he is within their reach. Dybala is out of reach of all Italian companies.”
With the likes of Juventus and Inter Milan also likely to be priced out of any bid for the striker, a move to English shores looks increasingly likely with Manchester City and Arsenal leading the way for the youngster.
Arsene Wenger has long been linked with a move for the 21-year-old while another striker is thought to be a key priority for Manchester City next summer.
Yet with the Sky Blues able to offer the Argentine a significant contract, coupled with the opportunity to play and work alongside compatriots like Martin Demichelis, Sergio Aguero and Pablo Zabaleta, it could be destination Etihad for the Serie A sharpshooter.
Dybala has already hinted at that decision in an interview with Guerin Sportivo in which the striker professed something of an admiration for both City and their upcoming Champions League opponents Barcelona.
“When I play with the Playstation, I always choose Barcelona or Manchester City. I dream to play one day with one of those clubs,” he told the South American news provider.
Much could depend on whether Stevan Jovetic decides to depart the Sky Blues this summer after being dropped from City’s squad for the knockout stages of the Champions League.
New signing Wilfried Bony has been brought in to replace him as City aim to reach the quarter finals of the competition for the first time in their history.
