Newcastle to quench fans thirst for signings with Evian star

Published:

Newcastle United could be preparing a late bid for versatile Evian star Daniel Wass, with time running out for the Toon to sign new players before the close of the transfer window.

Tutto Mercato is claiming that the Magpies are set to make a move for the 25-year-old, who can play as either a winger or full-back, when required.

Wass, who was previously on the books at Portuguese giants Benfica, has impressed for Evian this season and could be open to the idea of a St James’ Park move after seeing several Ligue 1 stars flourish following stints with the Toon.

Newcastle could also benefit from the recruitment of another player capable of playing at full-back, having already allowed Italian defender Davide Santon to move to Inter Milan.

The 25-year-old signed with the Nerazzurri earlier today, on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Santon originally arrived at Newcastle from Inter and had previously been linked with a return to the San Siro, amid rumoured interest from AC Milan.

Newcastle will now be hoping that Wass can provide some cover both at full-back and in the midfield as the club goes in search of a top 10 finish in the Premier League.
