Poll reaction: Diarra voted Arsenal’s worst ever French player

Published:

Arsenal gave every football fan the chance to stick the boot in following their hugely disappointing Champions League defeat last night.

And just to compound the Gunners’ misery we’re releasing the results of our latest poll.

Ahead of the Gunners’ calamitous 3-1 defeat to Monaco we asked fans to vote for the club’s worst ever French player.

And it was Lassana Diarra who came out on top with half of our respondents awarding the midfielder with this unfortunate accolade.

Diarra signed for the north London club from Chelsea in the summer of 2007 having picked up FA Cup and League Cup medals with the Blues.

However, Lass soon found his first-team opportunities at the Emirates limited following the emergence of fellow Frenchman Mathieu Flamini.

The former France international would go on to sign for Portsmouth for £5.5m just five months later and win another FA Cup before enjoying a fruitful spell with Spanish giants Real Madrid.

But while he may have enjoyed success elsewhere, you’ve voted Diarra Arsenal’s biggest French flop.

Who is Arsenal’s worst ever French player?

Lassana Diarra – 50%

Sebastien Squillaci – 17%

Pascal Cygan – 8%

Jeremie Aliadiere – 6%

Guillaume Warmuz – 6%

Gilles Grimandi – 3%

Remi Garde – 3%

Abou Diaby  – 3%

David Grondin – 2%

Armand Traore – 2%
