Considering the past three winners of the Fred Winter Juvenile Handicap Hurdle have come in at prices of 33/1, 25/1 and 40/1, and the fact that no trainer or jockey has taken the 2m conundrum more than once in its ten-year history, there’s clearly money to be made on Cheltenham Festival Wednesday.
Here are the three beasts we’re going into the second last mob-handed with.
Like 2014 winner Hawk Eye, this four-year-old won her last-race-but-one, but unlike the aforementioned, Souriyan put in a stout performance last time out, although a beaten favourite, when chasing home Rebecca Curtis’ Glenwood Star at Ffos Las in late January.

Tim Vaughan’s challenger has finished third or better in six of his past ten runs, including last time out ahead of better fancied Fred Winter hopes Golden Doyen and Baron Alco.
Such form may have him a little high in the weights, but with conditional jockey Alan Johns relieving 7lb for his boss, an each-way dabble is a must.
The Racing Post have flagged up fellow bottom-weight Sebastian Beach, also at 25/1, and understandably so as the mean average winning mark in the history of the Fred Winter has been just over 10-13.
We’ve gone with Henry Oliver’s Beatabout The Bush based on this information, as the former Flat sprinter comes into the race in arguably the best form of any horse having won twice on the spin by a combined 17l in decent-sized fields.
