Poll: Vote for your greatest Real Madrid player ever

Red Hot Chili Pepper Fans may be pre-occupied with the birthday of guitarist John Frusciante, and magic lovers will be joining Teller in celebrating the big six-o of Penn, but for football fans, March 5 is all about one anniversary.

Today marks the 113th birthday of one of the biggest clubs in the game, Real Madrid.

With 32 La Liga titles, 19 Copa del Reys and 10 European Cup and Champions League titles, few sides come close.

And in that time, they’ve had some epic players, but we want to know your top Galactico of the modern era.

We’ve picked out five, but leave a comment in the section below if we’ve missed someone out.

Alfredo Di Stefano

A legend in the club’s history, Di Stefano netted a whopping 216 goals in 284 games in the white of the capital club.

A feat perhaps more incredible though was the fact that he netted in five straight European Cup finals for Madrid, including a hat-trick in the 1960 final against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Raul

While Di Stefano was a goal-scoring machine, one player can boast an even bigger chest of Real Madrid goals, Raul.

The Spaniard is still the club’s all-time record scorer, having bagged 228 times for the senior side.

The only player to be named UEFA Forward of the year three times, he really was a complete striker.

Zinedine Zidane

When he wasn’t head-butting Italians in the chest for his national side, Zizou was an absolute wizard with the ball at his feet.

He would so often leave defenders with no idea of where to look, and delighted fans at the Bernabeu for five years at the end of his career.

And with a Zidane junior coming through the ranks, his legacy could yet live on in Spain.

Ronaldo

He may have got some stick towards the end of his career, but there was no denouncing ‘Fat Ronaldo’s’ talent in his prime.

His spell at Los Merengues yielded a great return of 83 goals from 127 appearances in that famous white strip.

To us he still is the Ronaldo.

Cristiano Ronaldo

To some, he may have already achieved legendary status in Spain, but the former Manchester United man has his work cut out if he is to top the four superstars above him.

He’s set to break both Di Stefano’s and Raul’s records if he continues in the same vein of form he has been showing in recent seasons.

It’s safe to say he can dazzle audiences when he’s not sending stylists to re-work his waxwork…

So there you have it, five of Real Madrid’s best ever, but who comes out on top? You decide…
