Spurs looking to cash in on Juve’s forward line reshuffle

Tottenham’s search for a viable scoring alternative to Harry Kane sees them plotting a move for Juventus striker Fernando Llorente, who looks like becoming surplus to requirements in Turin.

The Daily Star are not the first source to report a proposed move for the Spanish international by Spurs and scenarios at both clubs make a transfer all the more probable.

Llorente, 30, caused quite a stir in Serie A last season, bagging himself 16 league goals as Juventus romped to a third successive Scudetto, but has only added five more in the same competition this season.

The arrival of compatriot Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid in the summer of 2014 has led to less certainty over his place in the team, where Carlos Tevez is the mainstay in the Old Lady’s forward line.

Amid rumours that manager Massimo Allegri is looking to bring in Palermo hotshot Paulo Dybala in a high-profile summer deal, this means Llorente may well accept pastures new are called for.

Aside from the Premier League’s leading scorer Kane, the 8/11 top-six shots have no strikers able to contribute consistently alongside their sensational Englishman.

Roberto Soldado has failed in quite spectacular fashion to justify his huge transfer fee while Emmanuel Adebayor continues to be kept away from the action for one reason or another.

At least one of the duo, but in all likelihood both, will vacate White Hart Lane in the summer months meaning there will be vacancies.

Llorente is a quite physical, old fashioned number nine in the sense that he likes to hold up play before spinning into the box, which could compliment Kane’s direct running style very nicely.
