Hipster Tipster: Bremen and Sevilla wins written in the stars

Published:

I’ve been in mourning since 10pm on Thursday – mourning the death of Wolfsburg’s Europa League dream. Favourites to win the competition for so long, Bas Dost and the gang looked like world-beaters, progressing through what felt like 10 rounds of games to get this far.

But now, after a 4-1 hammering at home to Rafa ‘I love the UEFA Cup’ Benitez’s Napoli, that dream has died and my special Wolves-themed lederhosen must be packed away for another year while the Germain weiss bier previously purchased will be put on ice.

Yet any notion suggesting I am about to turn my back on the European game and Bundesliga can be quickly dismissed as I launch into another set of tips for Sunday’s action.

Bremen lead the way this week, with Sevilla, Montpellier and the aforementioned Naples club included as part of a fine-looking fourfold.

Werder Bremen to beat Hamburg @ Evens

Still in contention for a Europa League spot, Bremen must surely be backed for victory over the fast-fading Rothosen, who have lost on each of their last four visits to the Weserstadion and have lost four on the bounce in the Bundesliga.

Sevilla to beat Granada @ 5/6

On a high after their 2-1 victory over Zenit St Petersburg in the Europa League, Sevilla will surely continue their Champions League qualification push here, having beaten Granada in each of their last six meetings. The Andalusians have also taken 19 points from the last 21 available in La Liga.

Montpellier to beat Caen @ 19/20

Madcap chairman Louis Nicollin could be in for a super Sunday at Stade de la Mosson with Montpellier winning three of their last four at home in Ligue 1. Caen, meanwhile, have won just one of their last five in all competitions. Au revoir to the visitors methinks.

Napoli to beat Cagliari @ 10/11

The Partenopei put Wolfsburg to the sword in style last week and will be expected to meter out similar punishment to Cagliari,  who have taken two points from the last 30 available in Serie A. Napoli, by contrast, are aiming for a third straight win and have scored seven in their last two.
