How Twitter reacted to Townsend’s goal and England’s Italy draw

With the “hard work” already done following a 4-0 victory over Lithuania in last week’s Euro 2016 qualifier at Wembley, attentions this week turned to a largely meaningless friendly between England and Italy.
Yet no one told the fans on Twitter, with social media awash with comment on everything involving the Three Lions, Harry Kane and a certain Mr Andros Townsend.
Here are some of the best Tweets from a reasonably entertaining night in Turin.
After scoring after 79 seconds against the mighty Lithuania, fans were trying not to get too carried away with the news that Kane was set to start against Italy. They failed though.

One man who appeared happy to have Kane in the ranks was good old Roy Hodgson though, as this lovely little dance demonstrates.

At half-time, whoever was running the official Southampton FC Twitter account appeared to be in shock at seeing Pelle score an actual goal, opting to post a series of pictures as proof to any Saints fans out there.
