Election 2015: £50k bet placed on Labour to win most seats

| 07.05.2015

One political punter is pinning his hopes on Labour cleaning up in this year’s UK General Election having placed a £50,000 bet on Ed Miliband’s party to win most seats.

The anonymous London-based Ladbrokes customer put down the colossal sum on polling day.

It’s move that’s subsequently seen the odds on such an eventuality cut from 4/1 to 7/2 by the bookmaker.

However, while this particular individual will be dreaming of a huge payday the Ladbrokes Election Forecast is currently delivering bad news.

The Conservatives are predicted to win 279 seats to Labour’s 265 while the SNP (53), Other (23), UKIP (3) and Green (1) make up the remainder of the House of Commons.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “The first Labour big hitter has come out to play. That bet aside it is still one way traffic in the most seats market but now at least one large-staking customer seems to think Miliband and co will defy the odds.”

***Ladbrokes’ political team are now based in their election nerve centre in Westminster. For all broadcast/media enquiries at any time please call Alex Donohue on 07792560467**
