Could Gundogan to Man United be back on after this cryptic photo?

| 22.05.2015

Although reports were claiming Ilkay Gundogan had passed a medical ahead of a potential move to Barcelona, all may not be lost in Manchester United’s pursuit of the midfielder.

The German international is set to leave Dortmund this summer after rejecting a contract extension with BVB.

A move to Catalunya seemed to be the most likely destination, with numerous newspapers claiming the club, currently under a transfer embargo, had agreed a move to take place in the summer of 2016.

But Gundogan’s girlfriend has today added a new cryptic twist to the saga with her latest Instagram post.

Sila Sahin posted the snap of an flight board at airport, with the caption of “Where am I?”, giving Red Devils hope that a deal is not yet dead in the water.

Wo bin ich?

The nine-capped player seems to be getting over the injury woes that ruled him out of much of the 2013-14 season, and has made 22 Bundesliga appearances for Dortmund this season.

In that time he popped up with three goals and three assists in a campaign that sees the former giants labouring in seventh place and witnessed the departure of much-heralded manager Jurgen Klopp.

A move to capture his signature could spell the start of a big summer of spending for Manchester United.

Louis Van Gaal’s men showed in the latter periods of this season that they can be title challengers again with further reinforcements.

A more consistent campaign will be needed, and the acquisition of Gundogan will go some way to ensuring that.

First though, the Old Trafford outfit must travel to Hull in a vital fixture for their visitors, and at odds of 11/10 that LVG’s men finish the season with a victory, it will make interesting viewing.
