If Liverpool FC were a ship it would be time to start lighting the flares. In order to prevent the Red vessel disappearing off the charts altogether next season one, if not two, first-class strikers must be brought in this summer.
Manchester City’s Stevan Jovetic is one player to have popped up on Liverpool’s radar, but now a second Sky Blue is being lined up to answer Brendan Rodgers’ distress call.

Having relied on a quartet of centre-forwards who’ve contributed eight goals in the league this season, the same amount combined as departing top scorer Steven Gerrard, the need for replenishment is glaring.
Fresh rumours linking Raheem Sterling with a move for the exit door, to follow the probable departures of flops Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert, only increase the pressure to bring in quality reinforcements.
Dzeko may have fallen by the wayside slightly in Manchester, but the 29-year-old had been a key contributor in his previous three City campaigns – two of which were title-winning – where he notched 14, 14 and latterly 16 in 2013/14.
Even the four top-flight strikes in 22 appearances he’s mustered this season, mostly off the bench, is a mark up on what he’d be replacing at Anfield.
