Rugby League: How Twitter has built up to Magic Weekend

| 29.05.2015

This weekend marks arguably the biggest day in the Rugby League calendar – the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup aside obviously – as all 12 Super League teams ascend on Newcastle of Magic Weekend 2015.

This year will see St James’ Park play host to six mouth-watering ties across two days and as the official betting partner of the Super League we’ve had a close eye on the build up.

Here’s the best of what we’ve seen on Twitter so far:

As official betting partner we wanted to make sure some of our loyal followers have a Magic Weekend to remember and hopefully they will with these free VIP tickets…

The Super League themselves know that Newcastle is synonymous with football and helped crank up the excitement by pitting three current rugby stars against some Newcastle United footy legends in a kicking competition on the River Tyne…

Magic Weekend helps to give rugby league a bigger profile and that has been put to good use by some of the coaching staff at Huddersfield Giants who will be cycling all the way to Newcastle in time for the big kick-off…

While the Toon Army were only too happy to see the likes of Peter Beardsley, Rob Lee and John Beresford to get involved in the fun, quite what they’ll make of Warrington’s plans for the Angel of the North is anyone’s guess…

And last but not least it’s important to take a look at the thing that will ultimately decide where the Magic Weekend’s games are won and lost – the balls.
And here is this year’s effort in all its glory …
