Steven Gerrard to score and Liverpool to win enhanced by Ladbrokes

Steven Gerrard will bid farewell to Anfield this weekend but not before inspiring the Red to one last home win.

At least that’s what Ladbrokes punters will be hoping is the case after the bookmaker made the outgoing Liverpool captain the subject of a major Price Boost this weekend.

The odds on Gerrard scoring in a Liverpool win over Crystal Palace opened at 2/1 but after an injection from the trading floor Reds backers can now get 11/4 about that outcome.

It’s not just sentimentality suggesting a win for the Reds either, with The Eagles last tasting victory over Liverpool at Anfield way back in November 1991.

At that time Vic Reeves topped the charts with Dizzy and after a run that has seen them lose four games on the bounce the Alan Pardew’s men could feel like their heads are spinning come full time on Merseyside.

Liverpool have lost just one of their last 17 games in front of their own fans and with the Selhurst Park outfit already safe there could be little motivation to spoil Gerrard’s leaving party.

And to make the bet all the more enticing, Gerrard seems hell bent on signing off in style before joining MLS side LA Galaxy after netting in Liverpool’s last two games to take his tally to 12 for the season.

In fact, Gerrard’s last five goals have come against London opposition and with Palace not keeping a single clean sheet in their last 13 attempts the Liverpool legend will fancy his chances of getting on the scoresheet once again.
