Anderson’s presence makes Scotland the World Cup of Darts bet

The fifth edition of the PDC World Cup of Darts sees 64 players, representing 32 nations, descend on German soil for the fourth successive year, although this time the venue shifts to Frankfurt from Hamburg.
Last year’s renewal saw a second win for Holland, to prevent a third in succession for England, meaning the two countries have run a duopoly over the trophy early in its history.
With a partnership boasting both the deposed 2014 PDC world champion, Michael van Gerwen, and the recently replaced Premier League title holder Raymond van Barneveld, Holland will once again draw plenty of financial support as co favourites.
England boast multiple world champions themselves in the form of Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis, good enough to claim the Ryder Cup of arrows both in 2012 and 2013.
On opposite sides of the draw, the final will be their first chance to meet, but there is another pairing lurking in the bottom half on a semi-final collision course, and that’s Scotland.
The 10/3 shots cause will be spearheaded by reigning world and Premier League champion Gary Anderson, flanked by fellow top-flight tungsten flinger, Peter Wright.
The Flying Scotsman really has lived up to his nickname with aplomb since defeating Taylor in his spiritual home at Alexander Palace back in January.
His Premier League trophy proved that the PDC Player of the Year was no flash in the pan, as his game has been cranked up a couple notches in 2015.
If Snakebite can rediscover the form which sent him into the 2014 Ally Pally showpiece than the Livingston native and his East Lothian partner can conquer all in this revamp of the one-time Jocky Wilson Cup.
The Belgian Huybrechts brothers, who were toppled in the 2013 final by England, are next in the betting at 20/1.
