Chelsea and Man Utd duo look instant Fantasy Football bargains

The pricings are now out for the upcoming Premier League Fantasy Football game and many of the 3m+ players from last season will already be putting together the first draft of their teams for the next campaign.

Looking to recruit the early-season bargains will be the aspirations of many, with Michu, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Harry Kane all rapidly increasing in price in recent seasons and repaying those to take a punt on them at low costs.

Below is a player in each position that could provide far more points than their initial price tags suggest and so could be worth including in squads from the opening gameweek.

Thibaut Courtois

Putting in the highest-priced goalkeeper in the game may not be regarded as a shrewd strategy by many, but it is almost impossible to go into the season without at least one member of the Chelsea rearguard.

Jose Mourinho’s men kept more clean sheets than any other club last season and as a result, they conceded the fewest goals too.

Interestingly, Courtois is cheaper than any of the expected starting Chelsea back four and has less chance of being rotated out of the side despite the arrival of Asmir Begovic.

Cedric Soares

Southampton may have lost 5-4 to RB Leipzig in a recent friendly, but the attacking involvement of Soares caught the eye, as he scored and registered an assist in a 21-minute cameo.

He averages an assist at a quicker rate than Nathaniel Clyne over his career and given that the new Liverpool signing netted 142 points last season, Soares could come close to emulating this tally.

Obviously, much will hinge on whether Southampton can be as watertight at the back without both Clyne and Toby Alderweireld, but at 0.5m cheaper than Ryan Bertrand, Soares may prove the best option into the Saints’ backline.

Memphis Depay

Priced at £8.5m alongside the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Juan Mata, Mesut Ozil and Yaya Toure, many managers will find it hard to decide whether Memphis Depay is worth the expense over those with proven Premier League pedigrees.

However, it is hard to overlook the fact that the Dutchman scored 28 goals and contributed eight assists in 40 appearances for PSV last season from the wide areas, which remains an impressive contribution even in a weaker league.

With the likes of Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata supplying passes, chances are unlikely to be at a premium and there is also the potential that he could be used a second striker, using his pace to burst in behind if Rooney drops deep to influence play.

Troy Deeney

Although regarded as a big step up by some, both Charlie Austin and Danny Ings proved last season that strikers that are prolific in the Championship can also be a regular source of goals in the Championship.

Deeney has scored 19 or more goals in the last three second-tier seasons at Watford and the early signs from new boss Quique Sanchez Flores is that the captain will retain the sole striker berth, with fellow frontman Odion Ighalo starting from a wider position.

Alongside his 21 goals in the last campaign, Deeney also supplied 10 assists and if he reaches half of these two tallies in the forthcoming season, he will justify an initial outlay of £5.5m for Fantasy Football managers.
