Love Your Club: David McCracken – Falkirk

Former Scotland U21 international David McCracken has been at Falkirk since moving there from St Johnstone in 2013.
The 33-year-old defender spoke to Ladbrokes News ahead of the new season about the club he has made 57 appearances for, and what makes it so special.
Why do you love Falkirk?
The club is a massive family club, they’re really family orientated and it is a fantastic place for young players to establish themselves.
What’s the vibe like in the dressing room?
It’s usually really good. We get the music on and the boys get pumped and looking forward to the game.
90 per cent of the time I look after the music. I play a bit of dance music, we’ve got a few mixes from a boy called Hinsley. I found him online and he is supplying the tunes at the moment.
Walking out on to the pitch on a matchday is something you always want to experience. Obviously with some of the teams in this division this season it’s going to be good.
Describe the fans and what they mean to the club
It’s good to have interaction with the fans. The club do a lot of community stuff, players go into schools and so on. We had an open training session, where fans can come in, get some autographs and ask some questions and that’s really good.
Can you name a Falkirk backroom hero?
There’s one at every club and we have a guy called Bobby Wilson. I don’t think he gets paid but he comes in and helps out with the coaching staff and a bit of training. More than anything else he keeps the boys in check, if anyone gets above their station he quickly gets them back in line and you need someone like that.
What’s the best thing about being a Falkirk footballer?
It’s an absolute pleasure to work doing something you love and something you aspire to. To actually do it as your job is something special. I’m 33 now so I’m kicking on a wee bit but I’m feeling as good as ever and till my body tells me otherwise I’ll keep on with it.
