At the tender age of 20, Scott Ferguson has already made a big impact at Clyde. The former Rangers youngster has nothing but kind words for the club who took him in and gave him a chance to play league football.
The club’s Young Player of the Year told Ladbrokes News why he loves the Bully Wee.
Why do you love Clyde?
At a young age I was released by Rangers and Clyde took me in. As a boy of 17 they gave me a chance to play in the first team and ever since then I’ve taken that chance and they’ve continued to play me. That’s why I love this club.
What’s the atmosphere like in the dressing room?
The atmosphere is brilliant, everyone is buzzing. I supply the tunes, so the pressure is on. I mainly play house music to get the boys going for the game. The lads are also up and dancing about and it’s perfect for a Saturday.
There’s no better feeling than walking on to the pitch whether you play for Clyde, Rangers or Manchester City. There’s nothing better than knowing your doing what you love for the club that gave you a chance.
Describe the fans and what they mean to the club
The fans make a team. You need the fans and ours are brilliant. They make horrible journeys, three or four hours long. They bring their flags, their songs, their music and the atmosphere is brilliant from Clyde fans.
Can you name a backroom hero at Clyde?
The kitmen, definitely. Callum and Ian. What they do for us is unbelievable. They take our kit and protein drinks to the games. People don’t realise how hard a job they’ve got. They even take the kit home to wash it as we are a part-time team. The trips we go on, they deal with everything there and after training they stay behind and make sure everything is right with the gear.
What’s the best thing about being a Clyde footballer?
Just playing football. Since I could walk I’ve always had a ball. All my friends are going out at the weekend and getting drunk I’m here with a ball. It’s what I’ve always wanted to do and it’s amazing.
