It won’t be easy to top the table, however, with the Ladbrokes Life guys already setting out their stall.

Mr Brightside has been doing his impression of The Professor, using stats for a couple of his picks, but he’s still looking for flair with a pair of left-footed tricksters…

“I’m giving Leicester’s number one Kasper Schmeichel the nod. He could be busy this season and I’m hoping his shot stopping will get me some valuable point,” he said.

“The back-four is filled with full-backs that will produce further up the field and I’m hoping for plenty of end product from the likes of Leandro Bacuna, Aaron Cresswell and Jeff Schlupp – they’re cheap as chips too leaving me more cash to spend up top..

“It’s all about the lefties in midfield. Number 10 magicians David Silva and Mesut Ozil will find those pockets and give defenders nightmares all year once again.

“Last season they were directly involved in 34 goals between them and managed to swerve too many bookings. The other boys are tried and tested at this level and are big players for their respected clubs.

“Up top I have no doubt that England’s saviour Harry Kane will continue his rich vein of form in front of goal this term. Throw 15-goal man Saido Berahino into the mix too and it should be be raining goals.”
