Swansea’s Jefferson Montero the chosen option for Man Utd fans
Published:Two games into the Premier League season and one player that has stood out above the rest is Jefferson Montero, and it appears his performances haven’t gone unnoticed.
The Ecuadorian was instrumental in the Swans’ draw against champions Chelsea over the opening weekend, running Branislav Ivanovic ragged at Stamford Bridge.
He was then involved in his side’s second goal against Newcastle, to help Garry Monk’s men up to sixth place in the table after two games.
But as is the case when a player shows some top form, interest from others is inevitable.
And one club with their eye on bringing another attacking threat to their club is Manchester United.
The Red Devils were beaten to the signing of Pedro by Chelsea, and have been forced to turn their attention elsewhere.
The press suggest that the man they are after is Southampton’s Sadio Mane, with The Mirror suggesting a bid could be imminent from Louis van Gaal and co.
One look on social media however suggests that Manchester United fans would rather the Old Trafford outfit turn away from the Senegalese and towards Swansea’s 25-year-old man.
Don’t see why man utd would be in for mane if we really want decent fast attackers and we’ve missed Pedro go for montero

If Man Utd seriously wants to sign any other player after missing out on Pedro, it should be Jefferson Montero of Swansea #MUFC — Tanmay Mudgal (@TanmayMudgal) August 19, 2015
If United are gonna bid for a winger with PL experience, why aren’t they trying to sign Montero?

It hasn’t just been the fans though, former skipper Rio Ferdinand has suggested that Montero should be playing for one of the ‘big four’.
If I’m a manager at a top 4 team I take Montero…..real quick!!

In truth, he will need to prove that he can continue the performances he has shown this season if one of the bigger sides are to come in for him.
That being said, it is unlikely that the Liberty Stadium hierarchy will want to let the former Real Betis man go cheap, with his partnership with Bafetimbi Gomis and Andre Ayew clicking very well this term so far.
Swans fans will be willing September 1 ever nearer, but until that day comes, their man of the moment will continue to be linked with moves elsewhere.
