Capital One Cup: Reading shocking Everton can help land fivefold

Published:

The scrap for the first trophy of the season continues, with all the remaining Premier League teams now thrown into the mix for the Capital One Cup third round.

With the fixtures split over two nights, there are a couple of opportunities to claim accumulator victories and below, Ladbrokes News offer a fivefold paying out at just under 50/1:

Fulham to beat Stoke @ 2/1

The Londoners have hit a goal-scoring purple patch in the last four games, scoring 10 and winning three of those matches.

They’ve won their last two at Craven Cottage – including against Sheffield United in this competition – while winless Stoke needed penalties to win at Luton in the last round, with a rotated team.

Middlesbrough to beat Wolves @ 4/6

The Riverside rightly expects another push for promotion and four wins on the bounce in the Championship is certainly feeding confidence in Middlesbrough.

Like Fulham, Boro have plundered 10 goals in that winning quartet and should have too much for a Wolves side who have lost two of their last three games on the road in the division.

Bournemouth to beat Preston @ 1/1

Eddie Howe brought in 13 new players over the course of the summer, but has put faith in the bulk of the team that got the south coasters promoted last season in the top-flight’s early exchanges.

Even if the young manager shuffles his pack for the trip to Preston, the likes of Glenn Murray and Joshua King should help him ease past an outfit that have won just once in the last seven in all competitions.

Man City to beat Sunderland @ 4/9

Sunderland really are a ramshackle side at the moment. They’ve collected two points from their opening six outings in the top flight and needed to score six times to better Exeter’s three goals last time out in this competition.

Manuel Pellegrini is likely to rest some big names for the Stadium of Light trip, but the club’s Under-21s could give Dick Advocaat’s club a beating at the moment.

Reading to beat Everton @ 5/2

Goals from Orlando Sa and Nick Blackman have helped ensure Reading have lost just twice in all competitions this season, while Steve Clarke’s side only conceded more than once in a game on the opening day.

Everton, on the other hand, are having the kind of up-and-down run of form that is becoming synonymous with Roberto Martinez’s tenure and haven’t bagged in two on away from Goodison Park.
