Fantasy Football: Brightside promising no more Mr. Nice Guy

Published:

We’re only six games into the 2015-16 Premier League season but already the Ladbrokes Life gang are having to reassess their approach to fantasy football.

They might not be playing for the £100 FREE BET prize up for grabs* but that doesn’t mean they’re about to take defeat lying down.

Incredibly, it’s Mr. Brightside who’s lost his rag and made some pretty bold moves heading into the next round of fixtures.

Usually he’s an upbeat, positive kind of chap.

But now he means business.

Here’s how our characters are mixing things up…

#MrBrightside

It’s time for no more Mr. Nice guy from Mr. Brightside. Changes have to be made in order to resurrect my season.

Firstly, I’m making an official announcement in naming Jack Butland as my number one following another impressive performance in which he made his 30th save already this season.

The back three stay the same and I’m hoping the full-backs can deliver some points with assists as they are facing winnable games.

It’ll come right for Coutinho, Silva and Ozil this week though and I’m sure once they click the points will be rolling in.

Unfortunately I’ve had to part ways with Kane for the good of the team. I wish him all the luck in the future but I’m excited to bring in the new kid on the block, Martial.

He’s already dealt with the pressure of hefty price tag so he gets the armband.

The FA have forced my hand this week after giving Diego Costa a three-match ban after his shenanigans against Arsenal.

The Spaniard has to go and I’ve swapped him out for Wayne Rooney.

The Manchester United skipper opened his domestic account midweek against Ipswich and I’m hoping he can carry that form into Saturday’s game at home to Sunderland.

The Black Cats are bottom and have the worst defensive record in the league so he gets the armband.

Hammer Cheikhou Kouyaté comes in for Ikechi Anya in midfield for the Norwich game and should the doubtful David Silva not start this week, he’s first in line to replace him.

#GenerousJohn

Another good week and I’ve still got the beating of all #TheLadbrokesLife boys.

And as we go into the next round I’m  more than happy to share more wisdom to all of my fantasy football disciples.

Not a lot needs changing at the back with Smalling the star so far this season. Tadic comes in for Redmond as I fancy Southampton to catch Swansea cold this week after their clinical performance midweek in the Capital One Cup.

However, I am making a big call bringing in England’s all-time leading scorer for the injured Benteke.

Wayne found his goalscoring touch again for the Red Devils against Ipswich and I fancy him to kick on and find some goalscoring form back in the Premier League.

#GutTruster

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it is my motto.

Although City suffered a shock defeat last week, they certainly aren’t broken and I’m expecting a solid performance from them at White Hart Lane.

Mertesacker comes back in to the team for a crucial match against the unbeaten Foxes, in place of Pedro who is first in line should Silva not make the Citizens’ starting XI.

Up top, out goes Gomis who after a blistering start has gone stale in the last couple of games, and I can’t keep the faith any longer.

In comes the United youngster Martial who has looked impressive from the get-go and he picks up the captain’s armband in the process.

#TheBeliever

I’ve finally lost patience with Kane. We’re into gameweek seven and he looks a shadow of a man he was last season.

He’s had plenty of chances and he’s failed to take every single one. Replacing him is the first Manchester United player to get in my team, Anthony Martial.

This fella came with a big price tag but he’s been impressive. United take on Sunderland at home this week so of course I’m putting my faith in him.

In other news, Janmaat is dropped to the bench after Newcastle’s dreadful start to the season and with Chelsea making the trip to Tyneside, I can see goals galore for Mourinho’s men.
