3 NBA storylines to follow for the 2015/16 season

1) Dwight Howard’s double-double count
Because he is a bit of a goofball and insists on showing the world just how funny he is every waking second he’s on the court, people forget how dominant a healthy Dwight Howard is in the NBA.
The 29-year-old has averaged a double-double every single season he has been in the league, and he hasn’t played a full campaign since 2009/10.
He approaches this season with the Houston Rockets in his best health for some time he could make a mockery of his 12/1 odds to top the leading double double charts, especially with Houston positioning themselves as one of the top teams in the Western Conference.
2) Where Carmelo Anthony finishes the season
Carmelo Anthony is one of the top five scorers in the NBA. He plays for a bottom five team.
Players as good as the former third overall pick in the draft don’t like waiting around for cream to rise, preferring to seek out the nearest cow udder instead.
Anthony, let us not forget, ended up as a New York Knick after pushing for a trade from the Denver Nuggets in 2011. With his window to win a title closing, it’ll be no surprise if he looks to bolt Madison Square Garden for a better-placed Championship team this season.
3) Mario Hezonja’s cockiness
If you’re a hipster looking for a new interest this winter, following the Orlando Magic rookie’s NBA adventure isn’t a bad choice.
The Croatian is unflinching in his brashness. Before this summer’s draft he exclaimed he should be picked first, which is a completely alien stance to everyone else who is just “happy to be picked”.
While playing for his nation in August, he nonchalantly drained a three as time ran out with his team up 12 points, immediately turning to shake hands with the opposing coach. Normal basketball etiquette dictates that players hold the ball in that instance, out of sportsmanship and respect. Not Herzonja.
His basketball philosophy is such: “Whether it’s a veteran or a young player standing in front of me I always have the same goal. I want to run over everybody.”
More than one player will swing for him this season. Something tells us Mario will just swing right back.
