Arbroath’s Bobby Linn named Ladbrokes League 2 Player of the Month

Published:

Arbroath forward Bobby Linn has been honoured for some stunning performances last month by being named the Ladbrokes League 2 Player of the Month for September.

Smokies fans have seen their team suffer a slow start to the season, with Todd Lumsden’s side picking up just a single point from their first five games.

However, the form of Linn in front of goal has helped the Gayfield Park side add another nine points to their total, with wins over East Fife, Stirling Albion and East Stirling.

September looked to have started in the same fashion as August with the Red Lichties going down 1-0 away to Clyde but a spell of three goals in three games inspired Arbroath to three victories to move to within just five points of the top four.

Linn was named PFA League 2 Player of the Year last season after his 13-goal haul helped Arbroath to third in the league, however, an eight-game barren spell dating back to the last two matches of the 2014-15 season, had many thinking the accolade was a poisoned chalice.

Lumsden kept faith with the 30-year-old though and his performances in September’s trio of wins could hint at things to come from the former East Fife, Morton, Peterhead and Dundee man.

Next up for Arbroath is the visit of Montrose for which the hosts are priced as the 20/21 favourites.

The Gable Endies can be backed at 12/5, with the draw on at 5/2, but with the wind in Linn’s sails and the Smokies winning their last three without conceding the 5/2 on Arbroath to win to the nil could prove a shrewd selection.
