Fantasy Football: John leads the way while The Believer labours

While this week might have been a relatively low-scoring affair, the Ladbrokes Life gang made some great decisions in Gameweek 10 of Fantasy Football.
Mesut Ozil was the man given the nod for three of the gang, and he went some way to rewarding their faith with an assist in Arsenal’s win over Everton.
Generous John remains the man way out in front of our quintet, sitting in 106th position in the Ladbrokes Life league.
With Ozil handed the captain’s armband, Harry Kane netting a hat-trick and Laurent Koscielny also getting on the scoresheet, there were three players in his line-up that racked up double figure scores.
That trio ensured John pulled away from his chums to open up a near-50-point lead to his nearest Ladbrokes pursuer.
That man is The Gut Truster who heads a tight chasing trio ahead of Mr Brightside and The Professor.
As well as bringing in Arsenal’s German midfielder, the decision to swap Chelsea’s Pedro for West Ham’s impressive summer signing Dimitri Payet reaped the benefits, with the former Marseille man adding yet another assist.
Things are looking up for Mr Brightside though, with Leicester’s on-fire striker Jamie Vardy handed the armband and Toby Alderweireld proving an astute transfer, with the Belgian becoming the next goal provider for our quintet’s teams.
For The Believer though, things are looking glum.
He may have considered switching out Swansea’s Bafetimbi Gomis after he went six league games without a goal, and after another blank could find his way out of the team.
A paltry 30-point return marked the eighth week out of 10 that he has yielded a score less than the overall average.
In the race for the free £100 bet, the battle between Howard Clark (the sixth) and Terek Daioub took another turn, with the latter regaining top-spot.
His Tareksheva side brought about three clean sheets, two goals and three assists to yield a very decent 53 points.
Only the decisions to hand Alexis Sanchez the arm-band and banish Watford’s Allan Nyom to the subs bench came back to haunt him, with the Arsenal man getting his appearance points and nothing else, while the Hornets man could have added eight points to his total.
There is a long way to go, but the race for the prize is beginning to look like a two-horse affair, with the duo pulling away at the top.
