Fantasy Football: Sanchez saves the day and John delivers again

| 20.10.2015

It was a bumper week in the Fantasy Football for the Ladbrokes Life gang as all five of our betting men breached the 50 point mark with some astute transfers and substitutions.

Alexis Sanchez was the key change for the Believer as he brought in the Arsenal man to replace Eden Hazard in what proved to be a week-saver of a move.

The Chilean was also handed the armband as he played his way to 20 points for his fantasy boss.

The switch looked even better when Hazard played just eight minutes of Chelsea’s victory over Aston Villa bringing in just the solitary point.

A return of 54 points was good for the Believer, but it wasn’t quite Generous John standard.

The pacesetter of the gang pulled further away from the chasing pack with 78 points courtesy of some good performances from captain Wayne Rooney, Chris Smalling, Mesut Ozil and Saido Berahino.

It could have been so much better though, as he left seven-points man Nathan Redmond to get splinters somewhere painful on the subs bench.

He may be leading the way with his peers but John still finds himself way down the table in 251st position of the Ladbrokes Life league.

There is just three points separating the top two in the chase for that £100 Free Bet, though we may have to get the rule book out if things stay as they are.

Either Howard Clark has employed some dirty tactics in the chase for the prize or the name is more common than we thought with 18 Howard Clark-led teams in our top 50.

Nevertheless Clark the elder’s ‘Come on You Gunners’ delivered at the first time of asking after the fantasy gaffer played his Wildcard.

That man Sanchez was again handed the captaincy and he duly delivered, with the Premier League’s top goalscorer Jamie Vardy also chipping in with 13 points.

Our leader finds himself three points ahead of Terek Daioub’s ‘Tereksheva’ whose fairly low scoring return of 45 points saw him hand over top spot.

A goal from Dimitri Payet and assists from Riyad Mahrez, Kevin De Bruyne and Dusan Tadic were pretty much all he had to smile about as the Chelsea fan slipped to second.

If only he had the foresight to include Newcastle’s four-goal saviour Georginio Wijnaldum, who racked up 25 points to earn his place in this week’s Dream Team.

Whether the Dutchman will be making his way into sides up and down the country for next weekend remains to be seen, but Toon fans will certainly hope he can continue to rack up the fantasy points by continuing to deliver on the pitch.
