Ladbrokes Championship: Falkirk to get back on track
Published:The Championship – or Rangers show – returns with a bang after the international break and while another win for the Gers seems blatantly obvious there is intrigue from elsewhere in Scotland’ second tier.
Here’s your weekly preview…
Alloa Athletic v Raith Rovers
Rangers may be running away with the league but with six wins from nine games this season Raith Rovers are the best of the rest. Grant Murray’s men will be confident of another victory when taking on an Alloa side with just one win to their name and especially when they are unbeaten in seven against Athletic.
Best Bet: Raith to win at 10/11
Falkirk v Greenock Morton
Falkirk’s unbeaten start to the season may not have gained the same column inches as Rangers’ but the 3-1 loss to Mark Warburton’s men was their only taste of defeat so far. Peter Houston’s men will be confident of bouncing back immediately with Greenock arriving at Falkirk Stadium having lost three on the bounce. With the Bairns winning 3-1 and 4-1 in their most recent home ties with Morton the handicap could come into play here.
Best Bet: Falkirk (-1) to win @ 2/1
Hibernian v Dumbarton
A slow start to the campaign – two losses from their opening three games – has meant Hibs have been left alone to get on with their business and six wins from their last seven games in all competitions shows they are doing just that. Dumbarton, by contrast, have won just once in that time and despite beating Hibs on the opening day of the season will struggle to repeat the feat at Easter Road.
Livingston v St Mirren
Bottom side Livi have won just one of their last seven games but with Saints having won just one in five – and that victory coming in the cup – a close encounter is expected at Almondvale. Five of the last six meetings have either ended all square or been settled by a single goal. If ever there was a chance for Livi to pick up a win – this is it.
Best Bet: Livingston to win @ 7/4
Rangers v Queen of the South
The high-flying Gers hammered Queen of the South 5-1 earlier this season and the hosts’ form shows no sign of letting up. Warburton’s men have scored three or more goals in five of their last six Championship games and will expect to keep that run up against the Doonhammers.
Best Bet: Rangers over 2.5 goals @ 4/5
