Ladbrokes Premiership: 5 star Celtic bounce back

Published:

They may have struggled against Molde in the Europa League during the week but Celtic left little doubt about their Ladbrokes Premiership title credentials with an emphatic win over Dundee United on Saturday.

The Bhoys’ European ambitions were dealt a huge blow with the 3-1 defeat to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, but Ronny Deila’s call for an immediate response was clearly heard as the Parkhead crowd were treated to a 5-0 win over the Terrors.

Midfielder Kris Commons, who lashed out at Deila after being subbed in Norway, was the star of the show as his brace took him to six goals for the season and earned him some praise from the Hoops’ gaffer.

After 12 games Celtic are now four pints clear a of Aberdeen ahead of this weekend”s crunch clash with Derek McInnes’ side.

Elsewhere, Kilmarnock continued their impressive turnaround with a 2-1 away win over Dundee to move five points away from the drop zone and closer to the top six position they were aiming for pre-season.

While Kilmarnock’s fortunes have improved in the last three weeks, Aberdeen’s hunt for a win continued as they were held 1-1 by Motherwell.

Hearts moved to within two points of the Dons with a 2-0 home win over Ross County and St Johnstone bounced back from their 1-0 defeat to Partick with a hard-fought three points away to Inverness.

Thistle, meanwhile, were unable to build on last weeks victory after being held to a 1-1 stalemate by Hamilton to remain in the relegation play-off place.
