Ladbrokes Premiership: Goals galore but Partick’s Perth woe to continue

After this weekend’s action we will get a very clear picture of how we stand in the Ladbrokes Premiership with every side having played everyone else.

We’ve given you the run-down on the three lucky ties picked to get the TV camera treatment already, but we cannot forget the other sextet of teams that haven’t been given the honour.

The push for a top-six finish begins now and with the three non-televised games pitching teams looking to be playing the likes of Aberdeen and Celtic next May, rather than scrapping to avoid relegation, the stakes are high.

Here’s our low-down on the games…

Hamilton Academical v Dundee

Paul Hartley has been speaking in glowing terms this week about the striking options he has at his disposal, talking of how he is enjoying the fact he can play the trio of Rory Loy, Greg Stewart and Kane Hemmings all at the same time.

That’s easy to believe with the fact that the three hitmen have scored 13 of the Dees’ 18 top-flight goals this term.

Unfortunately for Hartley, his side’s problems lie at the back. The Dark Blues have only kept a clean sheet in two of their last 23 games in all competitions.

And with a rejuvenated Accies side – they’ve won two of their last three – only failing to net once in their last nine home games, goals could be on the agenda at New Douglas Park.

Best bet: Over 2.5 goals @ 17/20

Kilmarnock v Inverness Caledonian Thistle

After a slow start it is now easy to see why Caley boss John Hughes continues to be linked with jobs elsewhere.

The Jags have won four of their last five and find themselves pushing for a top-half position again.

All signs point to them continuing this purple patch at Rugby Park having netted two or more in five of their last six matches against Kilmarnock, and the hosts failing to keep a clean sheet since March.

Striker Miles Storey could be the man to lead the way again. He has scored first in Inverness’ last three fixtures and is 9/2 to break the deadlock once again. All three of those goals have come in the first half and it could be a case of the visitors putting the game to bed early.

Best bet: HT/FT – Inverness/Inverness @ 2/1

St Johnstone v Partick Thistle

Tommy Wright’s Perth outfit have been a gift that keeps on giving for ‘goalsie’ backers with both teams netting in all 11 of St Johnstone’s fixtures this term.

They too, have been enjoying a push up the table lately, winning three of their last four league games to hold seventh position.

Partick could put that both teams to score trend to the test, having gone five matches without scoring in September.

They overcame that when bagging in defeat against Motherwell before tearing through a managerless Dundee United outfit 3-0 last time out.

However they have not won at McDiarmid Park in 40 years (25 matches) and with their hosts coming off the back of a 5-1 win over Aberdeen, that run looks set to continue.

Best bet: St Johnstone to win and both teams to score @ 7/2
