Manchester United are to be used as the blueprint for success when David Beckham’s new Miami side enter MLS.

The former Red Devil revealed earlier today that his Florida-based club is likely to be up and running within the next six weeks and while the former England captain remained tight-lipped over what te side would be called, he confirmed he will use his extensive knowledge of the inner workings of Old Trafford in order to gain success stateside.

: “We want the club to be run professionally – everything needs to be run like a club like Manchester United. You have to look at it like that. Luckily, I’ve had a little bit of experience in that and I definitely will be a demanding owner,” he said.

Becks added: “We’re in a very good position – better than we were a year ago.

“It’s been a long process and I didn’t think it would be as difficult as it has been – but dealing with the political side of things in Miami has been a lot more difficult.

His admiration for his former club has led to speculation that Beckham will christen his new club Miami United, but he revealed he is yet to decide, adding: “We’ve got a couple of names we like, but we are probably going to get the public involved in Miami, because we want it to be their team.

“I actually heard Miami Vice the other day – it’s not going to be that! Miami Reds? I also heard Miami United the other day but we’ll see.”

Beckham’s side may be a few weeks from opening but the MLS action doesn’t wait with Toronto FC hosting New York Red Bulls later this week.

The Canadians go into the tie as 8/5 underdogs while the Red Bulls, boasting familiar faces like Shaun and Bradley Wright-Phillips, will hope to make good on their favourites tag  at 6/4.
