Three players Chelsea could sign if Hazard goes to Real Madrid

Published:

Rumours are circulating that Real Madrid are looking to sign Eden Hazard, and they want to bring him in before Euro 2016 as his price may boom.

This would leave Jose Mourinho, if he’s still there, the unenviable task of replacing a player who contributed to 23 goals last season.

The Belgian will be difficult to replace, but with the embarrasment of riches Chelsea have at their disposal it may not be difficult to lure a star to Stamford Bridge.

Here’s who the Blues should be looking at:

Yevhen Konoplyanka

The Ukrainian international has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs before, in particular Arsenal, and Chelsea are believed to be among his suitors.

He was instrumental in Dnipro’s march to the Europa League final last season, and was named in the tournament’s team of the campaign, before heading to Sevilla, the team who dashed Dnipro’s European dreams, on a free in July.

Life in Spain has started well for the 26-year-old, and he scored in the European Super Cup as Los Rojiblancos lost 5-4 to Barcelona.

His apparent release clause of around £30million won’t be enough to put off Roman Abramovich.

Domenico Berardi

When Hazard left Lille for Chelsea he was 21 years old, the same age Berardi is now, and the west Londoners might want to take a chance on youth again.

The Sassuolo attacking midfielder was the joint top in the Serie A assist table last season, with 10, and sixth in the goalscoring charts with 15.

He could play anywhere along Mourinho’s front four, and is already a player in a similar mould to Hazard.

Max Meyer

Another youngster who Chelsea should have on their radar is Schalke’s 20-year-old German international.

Meyer got his first, and so far only, international cap in May 2014, representing his nation all the way through from under 15 level before doing so.

He has been labelled as the next Mario Gotze in his homeland, and getting him in this early could be hugely profitable for the Premier League champions.
