Wenger-Out brigade postpone protest until next Arsenal defeat

Jose Mourinho may have his own disparaging nicknames for him, but Arsene Wenger has to be applauded for his uncanny ability to relieve mounting pressure at critical moments during any given season.
His sniping Chelsea counterpart may also claim to hold many things over Arsenal’s manager, not least a far superior head-to-head record against him, albeit longevity is clearly omitted from that list.
It takes a special breed and the hide of a rhino to deflect the constant stream of criticism the Emirates chief has faced over the past decade, seeing the birth of the unofficial, yet heavily subscribed ‘Wenger-Out Brigade’, headed up by celebrity Gooner Piers Morgan.
However, as these two completely contradictory tweets reveal, even the #WengerOut mob can’t make their minds up over their manager from one week to the next.

Having begun their Champions League group in such disastrous fashion, with successive losses to the weaker teams in Group F, Arsenal were basically fighting for survival against Bayern Munich on matchday three.
The slingshots were loaded and pointed in Wenger’s direction in eager anticipation of another chance to rally against the longest-serving manager in the Premier League.
But as witnessed on countless occasions during his 16-year reign, the Frenchman coaxed a massive perforcmance and result from his players and another opportunity to vent at Wenger was suppressed.
Clawing their way out of the group is still not a given for Arsenal, but seeing as Wenger has overseen safe passage to the knockout stages for 15 consecutive seasons, the Gunners have to be fancied after putting maximum points on the board.
For now at least Wenger can deservedly revel in what was a monumental result against a previously undefeated Bayern side harbouring the most potent striker on the planet in Robert Lewandowski.
Nevertheless Arsenal’s wily boss knows not to get too comfortable, as the next time his side loses, all the noise will begin again in earnest – starting with Everton’s visit on Saturday where the Londoners are the 2/5 favourites for another victory.
