Ladbrokes Premiership: Aberdeen to return to winning ways

Another big weekend in the Ladbrokes Premiership awaits, and while Celtic sit firmly on top of the pile thanks for a six-point gap, it’s all to play for in the midfield with four points separating fifth and tenth.

Aberdeen look to start anew against Dundee United after a difficult period, Hearts hope to make it four wins on the spin when they host Partick, before Celtic head to Ross County on Sunday.

Here’s your weekly preview…

Aberdeen v Dundee United

Victory over Ross County last Saturday brought some much-needed relief to the Dundee United faithful, but a 3-0 loss to Hibernian in the League Cup in midweek was a reminder of the task ahead for Mixu Paatelainen.

Aberdeen’s campaign has suffered blow after blow following their record-breaking nine-game winning streak to open the campaign.

A 1-0 win over United began that run back in August, and this could be the game to kick-start the Dons’ year with the Terrors losing their last five away games in the Ladbrokes Premiership, conceding 16 times.

Best Bet: Aberdeen -1 @ 5/4

Dundee v Partick

A 4-0 loss at home to Hearts was a hammer blow to Partick who had picked up seven points from nine available prior to last weekend.

Dundee have won and lost just one of their last five games, and claimed the first meeting of the season 1-0.

The Dees are unbeaten against Partick in the last four clashes, but both sides have netted in every league game at Dens Park this season, and Thistle should have chances.

Best Bet: Both teams to score @ 17/20

Hearts v Hamilton

Hearts jumped into second last week with a third win in succession, and the Jam Tarts are unbeaten in five league games.

Hamilton have quietly gone about their business but are without a win in four games as well as conceding in each of their last five.

A 4-2 loss to St Johnstone last time out points to a suspect defence which could be in for a long afternoon in Edinburgh.

Best Bet: Hearts -1 at 13/5

Motherwell v Inverness

These sides met on the opening day and only an early Wes Fletcher for Motherwell separated them.

The teams have remained in similar vein ever since, and both have claimed seven points from their last five games.

Level on points, this one should be as close if not more so than August’s encounter, with Inverness proving efficient on the road this season.

Best Bet: Draw @ 11/5

St Johnstone v Kilmarnock

Four wins from five games – including a 5-1 win at Aberdeen – has seen St Johnstone usurp Ross County in fourth spot, but they’re up against a Kilmarnock outfit which is unbeaten in its last three away contests.

Furthemore, Killie won the reverse contest in September, and both sides have plenty of reasons to fancy a victory.

Saints have netted in every game this term and that should continue with the visitors posting one clean sheet this year.

Best Bet: Both teams to score @ Evens

Ross County v Celtic

Ross County’s 2-0 win over Aberdeen was their only high point in a difficult October, and they host a Celtic side eager to extend their lead at the top.

The Bhoys prevailed 2-0 against County on the opening day and are unbeaten in eight meetings with the Ross-shire side.

County haven’t netted against the Glasgow club in their last four encounters, and have failed to score in their last two league games.

Best Bet: Celtic to win to nil @ 11/8
