Falkirk v Rangers: Great time to back Bairns for victory

Published:

Rangers may  sit at the top of the Ladbrokes Championship table and go into this weekend’s tie with Falkirk as the 4/9 favourites but it is the hosts who are actually the team in better from.

While Mark Warburton’s Gers have lost just one of their last seven games, drawing two and winning four, the Bairns are unbeaten in seven, drawing two and winning five.

The Ibrox side haven’t lost to Falkirk since a 3-2 League Cup defeat back in 2011 but on current form there will be plenty tempted to back a turning of the tide.

Bu their own high standards Rangers are in the midst of a mini-run of poor results away from home, losing 2-1 to title rivals Hibs and drawing 1-1 with Livingston last time out.

By contrast, Falkirk are flying high at home, winning four of their last five games, including 3-0 and 5-0, against St Mirren and Alloa Athletic respectively, so a high scoring affair could also be on the cards.

Four of the last five meetings have seen exactly four goals so the 11/10 on over 3.5 could appeal while 4 goals at 10/3 would be the advice in the Total Goals market.

With an action-packed match expected, and the game taking place in front of the BT Sport cameras, it could also prove prudent to check out he first goalscorer markets.

Jason Holt is leading the way for Rangers, opening the scoring in four of their games so far this season, while John Baird has got Falkirk games up and running three times.

Holt can backed at 8/1 to break the deadlock at Falkirk Stadium, while Baird is chalked up at 7/1.

Those odds could be doubled to 16/1 or 14/1 if either man nets the opening in the opening 25 minutes, however, thanks to Ladbrokes ongoing Double Your Odds promotion.*

Rangers are the runaway 1/8 favourites to claim the Ladbrokes Championship title but if this game continues recent form they’ll have to wait for their next three points.
