Fantasy Football: Can Everton star help Generous John extend his lead?

Published:

Generous John can do no wrong at the moment and he’ll be hoping to put further daylight between himself and the rest of the Ladbrokes Life bunch this weekend.

GJ has made some pretty astute Fantasy Football selections recently and he’ll be hoping his latest move proves to be another masterstroke.

But with The Gut Truster and Mr. Brightside breathing down his neck there’s no room for complacency in the Ladbrokes Life League.

And that’s the same for all of our participants with the battle to bag the £100 FREE BET prize hotting up.

Here’s how our quintet have been tinkering with their respective teams:

#Gut Truster

Listening to my gut cost me 15 points last week as a result of leaving Bolasie on the bench! I’m not tinkering too much though. All my players have some tasty fixtures which could see them bag more than a measly two-points.

The one change I’ve been forced to make is Hart out with Mignolet his replacement. Liverpool have Newcastle away, and I expect a backlash from the Magpies which means Mignolet could be a very busy man on Sunday.

Plus, there’s also the tasty fact that Klopp hasn’t lost when Liverpool have been on the box.

The only other change sees Arnautovic dropping to the bench (watch him score twice this weekend!) to be replaced by the in-form Bolasie. I hope I don’t make the same mistake as last week!

Maybe I was asking a bit too much of Kane to score again against a toothless but resolute Chelsea, however some strong performances last time out means we’re still within touching distance of the top spot.

A double substitution may be just what’s needed for another monster week. With Butland nailing down the No.1 shirt, Schmeichel is now surplus to requirements so I’ve bought in McCarthy as a cheaper option to keep some pennies in the bank.

I’ve also changed one expensive City star for another. Sterling has been productive but I feel £59m man De Bruyne is an upgrade and has a lot greater end product which equals more points. The front three stay the same, however, Lukaku will get the armband this week as he looks to add to his tally of three goals in his last two games at Goodison.

After another dreadful performance for the Toon, I’ve finally got rid of my final Newcastle player. The Magpies were awful on Saturday and with Klopp’s Liverpool going to a very unhappy St James’ Park, Janmaat doesn’t stand a chance of getting some points.

On the other hand, Tottenham have impressed me. Going 13 games unbeaten in the Premier League is a major accomplishment and you can’t do it without a steady defence. Toby Alderweireld is the man to stop any defensive leaks.

Courtois is back between the sticks after a long injury, a change that sees Butland drop to the bench for their game against the Premier League front-runners. With Sanchez expected to miss the game against the Black Cats I’ve punted for bringing in Albrighton from the bench to make up the numbers

I’ve seen a bit of a resurgence over the last couple of weeks, the challenge is now to keep the momentum going and I reckon this weekend’s fixtures will play into my hands.

Last weekend wasn’t a total disaster but disappointing point totals from Harry Kane, Manuel Lanzini and Riyad Mahrez put a slight dampener on things.

Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley carried the team again producing a goal each, adding to their totals of 10 and six goals respectively.

Alexis Sanchez’s injury means that he gets dropped out of the squad in favour of Mesut Ozil. With two goals and two assists in his last four games the in-form Arsenal midfielder is an obvious choice.

Phillipe Coutinho should be back from injury to face a Newcastle side that have lost three of their last five so I’m transferring him in and Cheikhou Kouyaté out.

I’m counting on the trio of Lukaku, Kone and Barkley to maintain their consistency and the addition of Ozil to spur my team on.

A great performance from the team last week, bagging a tasty 65 points and extending the gap in the league over the others.

My decision to captain Ighalo paid dividends with the Hornets frontman earning me a whopping 24 points. Ozil turned from provider to goalscorer with the midfield man getting on the scoresheet for the Gunners with a delightful finish which earned me 10 points.

I’ve made two changes this week, Barkley comes in for the injured Sanchez. The Everton man has been exceptional this season for the Toffees and is earning some tidy points. He’ll hopefully fill the void left by the injured Chilean.

This was a tough decision but one I feel in the long run will be worth it. I’ve drafted in Aguero and taken out Kane. I know Kane is doing well but once Aguero gets going he’ll be unstoppable and that could the difference in winning this mini-battle with my mates. To underline the faith I have in the City striker, he’s getting the armband for this week.
