Houston and Rogers deliver awards double for Falkirk

Peter Houston and Danny Rogers have delivered an awards double at Ladbrokes Championship side Falkirk after scooping the Manager and Player of the Months trophies for December.

The Bairns have been in great form of late, last losing a game when going down 1-0 to Hibs on October 20.

That form continued in December with Houston’s men drawing with Hibs and winning their other four games with on-loan Aberdeen stopper Rogers keeping a clean sheet in three of those victories.

Rogers has conceded just two goals since the beginning of December and has now kept 11 clean sheets in all competitions for the Bairns.

Such form has added to speculation that the Dons are set to recall the Republic of Ireland U21 international back to Pittodrie but while the ‘keeper would relish the chance to challenge for the Aberdeen starting berth he stated that he is happy at Falkirk and hoping to play as many games as possible for the remainder of the season.

Rogers’ form has helped lift Falkirk up to second in the Championship just three points behind leaders Rangers and the sponsors have now cut the club’s title odds to 14/1.

Upon handing the duo their trophies, David Macdonald of Ladbrokes said:”A few months ago some had the Ladbrokes Championship down as a two horse race, but someone failed to tell Peter Houston and his men because they are firmly in it to win it.”

Next up for Falkirk is another tough clash with the Hibees but such is the form of Houston’s men that there is no separating the sides in the betting.

The Bairns can be backed at 21/10 to claim all three points, while the same odds suggest the HIbs will take maximum points back to Edinburgh.

The draw can be backed at 13/5 and with the sides sharing the spoils last time out another stalemate could be the best selection.
