Man United renew interest in World Cup winning defender

Manchester United are set to renew their interest in Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos this summer, according to reports.

The Red Devils attempted to land the Los Blancos captain last summer to no avail but Madrid president Florentino Perez is understood to now been keen to cash in on the 29-year-old.

Reports suggest Ramos would be available for between £44m and £59m, a price that would likely see United once again at the front of the queue.

However, United could face stiff competition from bitter rivals Manchester City if comments from the player’s agent are anything to go by.

Francois Gallardo told Fichajes that his client is most likely to end up where Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola heads next.

Guardiola is currently 10/1 third favourite to be the next Red Devils boss, with Jose Mourinho (evens) and Ryan Giggs (7/4) ahead of the Spaniard in the betting.

However, with Louis van Gaal the 4/9 favourite in the next Premier League manager to leave market and City boss Manuel Pellegrini a distant 33/1 Guardioa could well end up in the Old Trafford dugout and bring Ramos in as part of a new era for United.

The 20-time English champions have also been linked with the likes of Gareth Bale, Neymar and Felipe Anderson in recent weeks and those moves would seem all the more likely if Pep were to replace the beleaguered Dutchman in the coming weeks.
