Stirling Albion nab double award for December

Published:

December was a pretty decent month for Ladbrokes League 2 side Stirling Albion and their efforts have been recognised by the title sponsor and Scottish media.

Boss Stuart McLaren and forward Darren Smith have picked up the Manager and Player of the Month awards for their respective efforts in the final month of 2015, just desserts for their part in the Binos’ fine performances.

Albion recorded three wins out of four in December, beating table-toppers Elgin City and Annan Athletic as well as seeing off Montrose.

The team’s only blip was a Boxing Day defeat to East Fife as they collected more points than any other side in the division.

Hitman Smith enjoyed a particularly fruitful spell with his hat-trick at Links Park supplemented by a strike against Elgin and crucial assist in Stirling’s impressive victory over Annan.

Albion are 14/1 shots to win the league but if they carry on in a similar vein you can expect those odds to shorten dramatically.
