Will transfer ban mean mad Real Madrid rush for these stars?

Real Madrid’s impending transfer embargo means the Bernabeu hierarchy will have to act fast and pull out all the stops if the club is to land its top targets.

Both Real and city rivals Atletico have been hit by FIFA sanctions following a breach of regulations surrounding the transfer(s) of players under the age of 18.

But as the ban on registering players is only for the next two complete transfer windows, Los Blancos are still free to splash the cash this January.

And it’s these usual suspects who are likely to find themselves at the centre of speculation once again…

David de Gea – 6/4 to join Real Madrid in January

De Gea was minutes away from becoming a Real player in the summer with only a deadline day delay standing between him and his dream move.

And given the relative turmoil surrounding current employers Manchester United and the team’s struggle for consistency the Spain international may well jump at any second chance afforded him.

Paul Pogba – 7/2

Juventus midfielder Pogba is a man in demand with both Real and bitter rivals Barcelona interested in acquiring his services.

The 22-year-old is supposedly Zinedine Zidane’s top target and the latest FIFA ruling may force the Frenchman to move quickly for his compatriot.

Eden Hazard – 9/2

Chelsea boo-boy Hazard has failed to recapture the form that saw him land the PFA Player of the Year award last season and speculation has been rife about a Real move to secure his signature.

The player himself would probably welcome an escape route but president Florentino Perez is apparently not sold on the idea.

Harry Kane – 8/1

News of Los Blancos’ transfer ban has already forced Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino into making a fierce denial that star man Kane will be sold this month.

But if a suitable offer was made would White Hart Lane supremo Daniel Levy be prepared to cash in his chips (again)?

John Stones – 25/1

Much has been made of Stones being the ‘right fit’ for either Barcelona or Real Madrid and if reports are to be believed that could spell trouble ahead for Everton and boss Roberto Martinez.

There have been questions raised about a shaky Real defence and the club may not wish to wait 12 months to bring in reinforcements in this area.

And that’s bad news if you’re a Toffees fan.

Jamie Vardy – 50/1

A leftfield option perhaps and that’s reflected in the odds. Leicester striker Vardy has been a revelation so far this season and there was talk of Barca and Real sending scouts to monitor his rise to prominence.

However, that was before troublesome niggles and a mini goal drought made headlines instead so you can probably rule this one out.
