FINAL-LEO! DiCaprio breaks Oscar drought and the Internet

| 29.02.2016

It was the moment everyone had been waiting for as Leonardo DiCaprio finally took to the stage to receive the Oscar for Best Actor, owing it to his portrayal of ruthless survivor Hugh Glass in The Revenant.

It had been 22 years since the actor’s first Academy Award nomination, and we were all hoping that this man wouldn’t be presenting the award…

Thankfully, he wasn’t. But you can bet that the world of social media produced some absolute gems upon the news of Leo’s big win:

With Leo’s win, though, came a little sadness, as the Twittersphere realised that no more would we see another Oscar-related meme mocking DiCaprio’s failure to win…

Amongst the biggest award of the night, other notable winners included Brie Larson for Best Actress in Room, Spotlight for Best Picture, and Mad Max: Fury Road scooping an impressive six awards.
